Dr. Farnoosh (Faith) Nouri is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), Clinical Assistant Professor at Southern Methodist University, and the author of the book “So Long Depression”. She is a Certified Hypnotherapist, Safe Conversations Leader, and Gottman Model of The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. She also has extensive training in Play Therapy, Complex Trauma, psychosomatic, and Mind/Body Integration with over 25 years of clinical and teaching experience.
Her professional and clinical interests include personal and professional growth, anxiety and depression, relationship skills, complex trauma, and grief recovery using numerous techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Brain Spotting, Hypnotherapy, Mind/Body Exercises, and Existential/Spiritual awareness and growth. she has experience working with children, adolescents, individuals and couples. She is also a Tamarkoz® (Sufi Meditation) instructor and integrates the wellness practice of Tamarkoaz® including breathing, concentration, and meditation exercises in her psychotherapy practice.
Dr. Nouri is an international presenter and a member and presenter at numerous professional mental health organizations including American Counseling Association, Texas Counseling Associtation, Sufi Psychology Association, and American Psychological Association.
In addition to her teaching experience, her research interests are related to near death experiences. Her dissertation examined the electromagnetic aftereffects of near-death experiences.
Dr. Nouri earned a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Computer Science from Texas Women’s University and a M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of North Texas, specializing in college and university counseling. Dr. Nouri completed her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at the University of North Texas.
She enjoys spending time with her family, going on nature walks, and quiet moments of reflection and solitude. Her happy place is the beach!
